Nadia went to the doctor last Friday for her 9 month (she actually 10 months, but we are a little behind on our shots) well baby visit. She did not have to get any shot's (other than her flu shot), but the doctor wanted a blood test done on her to check if she has any lead in her blood and to check the amount of blood she has...which is called hemoglobin. First off, her veins are very deep and none of the lab technicians wanted to do it, so they brought the manager in to do it and they got her on the first try. She was very good and did not cry to much. Her doctor had told me that we would be getting the results in the mail by this week. Well, this week we got a letter stating that she no lead in her system, however her hemoglobin is slightly low (normal range is 11.5-13.5 and she is 10.8). So, the doctor sent a script saying to start her on iron, with no other explanations. Needless to say I was not amused, so I called the doctor's office and no one would really tell me anything other than that they will check her again at 15 months. Ugh! At her doctor's appointment she weighed 22 pounds and 12 ounces. However on Sunday, she has just started randomly throwing up for no apparent reason, so she probably weighs a little less now. After talking to several people, I guess this is a bug going around, and I think she picked it up at her doctor's office last Friday. She is now 28.5 inches long. She is gradually coming back on the growth charts.
